WORDPRESS WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

WordPress Web Design & Development

Professional WordPress websites that look the part, are easy to manage and are designed to support your business as it grows.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, replacing an ageing website or improving an existing one, I create websites tailored to your brand, your content and what you want people to do when they visit.

Discuss Your Website

A Better Website for Your Business

Your website is often the first introduction someone has to your business. It needs to explain what you offer, build confidence and make it easy for visitors to take the next step.

I design and develop WordPress websites for small and growing businesses in Blackburn, across Lancashire and throughout the UK. Some need a clear, professional online presence. Others need a more involved website with multiple services, detailed content, integrations or eCommerce. The aim is the same: a well-designed website that feels right for your business and works properly for the people using it.

WordPress is a flexible content management system, which means your website doesn’t have to be difficult to maintain once it’s live. You can manage pages, update images and publish content without having to ask a developer to make every small change.

WordPress Website Services

Business Website Design

Custom business websites that present your services clearly, make a strong first impression and help visitors find the information they’re looking for. Suitable for new businesses, established companies and organisations that want a professional, manageable website.

WordPress Website Redesigns

If your current site is slow, dated, confusing or difficult to update, a redesign can improve both the appearance and the experience. I’ll review the existing content and structure, identify what can be kept and develop a more useful website around your current needs.

WooCommerce & Online Stores

Need to sell products or services online? WooCommerce adds eCommerce capabilities to WordPress, including product management, baskets and checkout. I can help shape an online store around the customer journey and the functionality your business needs.

Bespoke WordPress Functionality

Sometimes a website needs more than standard pages. Depending on the requirements, that might mean custom content structures, forms, filters, member areas, integrations or bespoke functionality that helps the website do more for your business.

Website Performance & SEO Foundations

A good website needs solid foundations. I consider responsive layouts, clear page structures, readable content, sensible metadata, technical performance and accessibility when building a site. These are important starting points for visibility and usability, rather than a promise of particular search rankings.

Hosting, Maintenance & Support

If you’d prefer someone to look after the technical side after launch, hosting and ongoing support are available as optional extras, not a requirement for purchasing a website. We can agree which services you actually need, such as managed hosting, WordPress and plugin updates, backups, SSL configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and future content changes. If you already have a hosting provider, I can assess whether it is suitable.

Support hours, response times and backup arrangements are confirmed as part of the individual agreement.

More Than a Brochure Website

A WordPress website can be a simple, carefully structured company website or something more involved. Depending on your requirements, it may include a blog or news area, searchable service directories, custom content types, an enquiry or booking form, analytics, a portfolio, a gated content area or an online store.

The right features are the ones that support your actual visitors and workflow, not a collection of plugins added because they’re available.

Designed for Real People, Built for Everyday Use

It’s easy to focus on how a website looks on a large monitor and forget how most visitors will actually use it. Your customers might arrive through a Google search, open the site on a phone, scan one page and make a decision in seconds.

That’s why I focus on clear navigation, logical content, readable typography and calls to action that make sense. I want the website to be straightforward for your visitors and equally straightforward for you to manage.

The design should reflect your brand rather than feeling like a generic template. The structure should support the content you have now while allowing you to add new services, pages or features later.

What Goes Into a WordPress Website?

The exact scope depends on the project, but the work can cover:

  • Planning the pages, content and navigation around your audience.
  • Responsive design for desktop, tablet and mobile visitors.
  • WordPress setup, theme development and appropriate CMS editing tools.
  • Contact forms, enquiries and other practical website features.
  • On-page SEO foundations, such as headings, metadata and internal links.
  • Performance, accessibility and usability considerations.
  • Analytics, tracking or third-party integrations where required.
  • Testing, launch support and guidance on managing your content.

The aim is not to fill the site with unnecessary features. It’s to build what your business needs, with a structure that can grow when you do.

WordPress and Your Business

You’re in Control of Your Content

WordPress gives you the ability to manage your own pages, publish news or articles and keep business information up to date. I’ll consider the editing experience during development, not just the front-end design.

Room to Grow

Your website can begin with a focused set of pages and develop over time. New services, content areas and selected features can be added as your requirements change.

A Platform with a Large Ecosystem

WordPress provides a mature ecosystem for common website requirements. Where a plugin makes sense, it can save time. Where a requirement calls for something more specific, I can develop a more tailored solution.

An Easy-to-Follow Process

Discover Your Requirements

We’ll discuss your business, audience, existing website if you have one, and what the new site needs to achieve.

Plan the Content and Design

I establish a practical page structure, key messages, user journeys and design direction before building out the site.

Build and Test

The website is developed in WordPress and checked across different screen sizes. Important functions, forms and page layouts are reviewed before launch.

Launch and Look Ahead

Once you’re happy with the website and it’s ready, we can go live. Hosting, maintenance and future development are available as additional services.

Frequently Asked Questions About WordPress Websites

Why choose WordPress for a business website?

WordPress offers flexible content management, plenty of options for extending functionality and the freedom to update pages without being dependent on a developer for every change. Whether it’s the right choice depends on the kind of website you need.

Will I be able to update my website myself?

Yes. A key benefit of WordPress is that you can manage website content through an admin interface. I can structure the editing experience around the content and pages you need to maintain.

Can you work with an existing WordPress website?

Yes. That could involve a redesign, improvements to the existing site or additional functionality. I’ll first review how the current website is built and whether extending it or rebuilding it is the better option.

Will the website work on mobile phones?

Yes. Responsive design is considered throughout the project, with layouts and navigation that adapt to different screen sizes.

Will my website be optimised for Google?

I build with SEO foundations in mind, including sensible page structures, useful content, headings, metadata and technical best practices. Ongoing SEO campaigns and search performance are separate from the website build itself, and no one can guarantee a particular Google ranking.

Can you build an online shop with WordPress?

Yes. WooCommerce can be a suitable choice for a WordPress-based online store, depending on the products, checkout requirements and integrations involved.

Do I need to buy hosting separately?

Hosting is optional. I can arrange it as part of an agreed hosting and maintenance service, or review your existing provider and work with that environment where practical.

How much does a WordPress website cost?

Brochure websites start from £299 and eCommerce websites from £399. The final cost depends on the size of the website, the design work, the content and any bespoke functionality. After a short discussion, I can help establish the scope and provide a quotation.

Will I own my website and be able to move it?

Ownership, third-party licences, hosting access and handover arrangements will be made clear in the project agreement before work begins. WordPress itself is not tied to one particular hosting company.

What happens to the SEO of my existing website during a redesign?

If your current site is already being found in search engines, I’ll review important pages and URLs, retain useful content where appropriate and plan redirects for URLs that need to change. That helps protect the site migration, although no provider can guarantee unchanged rankings.
